The American newspaper used satellite images from Maxar Technologies and some videos to show that at least 11 bodies were already there on March 11, when Russian forces were still occupied.
Many countries have reacted indignantly to the images from Butja, a suburb of the Ukrainian capital Kiev. They were created after the withdrawal of Russian troops.
According to Ukraine, hundreds of people were killed by the Russians. Some had their hands tied behind their backs, others had been shot in the head.
Russia has denied any involvement and called the images “a hoax” and a “provocation” by Ukraine last weekend. According to the Defense Ministry, the bodies were deposited there after the departure of Russian troops on March 30. The satellite images clearly contradict that.
US President Joe Biden believes his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin should be tried for war crimes.
