Kate Moss, Mark Wahlberg, and now Lourdes Leon. The daughter of Madonna (63) and the Cuban actor Carlos Leon (55) turns out to be just as photogenic as her predecessors in Calvin Klein’s latest campaign, and is at least as idiosyncratic. For example, Lourdes poses for the infamous underwear photo with her tattoos and armpit hair prominently in the picture. Feel free to call the latter her feminist trademark par excellence. “I leave my armpit hair deliberately,” says Lourdes. “Why should a woman depilate herself? Just to please men? I don’t see the point in it.”

It doesn’t make Lourdes any less desirable. Although she considers her modeling career to be a sideshow herself – and would prefer to break through as a dancer and choreographer – major fashion houses are increasingly turning to her. A few days before Calvin Klein’s campaign images were released, she shared some backstage snaps from a shoot for Burberry. Lourdes poses there with Bella Hadid (25), Jourdan Dunn (31) and Ella Richards (19, and the granddaughter of Rolling Stones musician Keith). In the past, she has been booked – among others – by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Versace, Fenty and Stella McCartney. “Financially these are cool assignments”, it sounds. “But I can also express my creativity in it. I have a very specific style, and I want to show it.”
