Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City expires after the 2022-2023 season and the Spaniard himself indicated that he is ready for a new chapter afterwards. “I will need some rest,” he said last summer. “After that I want to train a national team for a European championship, a World Cup or the Copa America.”

So at the moment it seems to be a Copa America rather than a European Championship. According to MARCA, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) would be willing to make a hefty effort for Guardiola, who could capture a net annual salary of 12 million. At Manchester City, the Spaniard’s salary is even higher.

Guardiola started his project with Manchester City in 2016. With the Citizens, he won three league titles. However, he failed to win the Champions League yet, last year City came close when they were only beaten in the final by Chelsea. Guardiola previously coached FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
