Films featuring LGBT heroes may soon disappear from the big screens in Russia. Recently, such a bill was submitted to the State Duma.

Pictures that promote non-traditional sexual relations and the denial of family values may be banned from issuing rental licenses. If such a law is adopted, online cinemas will also be required to comply with it, the text of the bill says .

In Russia, there have already been cases when it was forbidden to show films with heroes belonging to the LGBT community. Last year, Paul Verhoeven’s film The Temptation, in which two nuns had feelings for each other, was banned from theaters.

Non-traditional sexual relations cause outrage not only in Russia. Earlier in the US, they began to boycott the popular blockbuster because of the bisexuality of some of the characters.
